CMPOA Meeting minutes for the 10/10/2012 Board Meeting


The meeting was called to order by President Dwight Storm at 7:06 at the home of Annemarie Garber.  Present were Annemarie Garber, Robyn Hall, Bob Engel, Dwight Storm, Doreen Smith, Jay Haworth, Joe Steinbach, and guest, granddaughter Lianna.
 
UPDATE OF JIM BARNHILL
Jim has checked out of Sterling House and is back home with Marilouise.  The family is considering moving Jim and Marilouise to Columbine Gardens.
 
After the opening prayer, the first order of business was to review and approve the September 12th meeting minutes. 
 
INTRODUCTION OF BOARD MEMBER - ANNEMARIE GARBER
Annemarie gave a moving and detailed account of her life, beginning with her childhood experiences in Germany during WWII.
 
OLD BUSINESS
 
HOMES SOLD AND FOR SALE
5019 W. Fremont Ave. is still for sale.
5132 W. Fremont Dr. is still for sale.
7204 S. Platte Canyon Dr. has sold.
7347 S. Plate Canyon Dr. is under contract and expected to close soon.
 
DELIVERY OF NEW NEIGHBOR BASKETS AND REPLENISHMENT OF INVENTORY
Annemarie Garber and Robyn Hall will purchase new materials for the upcoming new neighbor welcome baskets.
 
YARD-OF-THE-MONTH AWARD
September's winner has not been decided to date.  The household will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to Home Depot. 
 
A proposal was made to consider adding an additional category, a "Home-Improvement-of-the-Month" award.
Discussion was tabled until the next meeting.
 
DRIVEWAY AND CONCRETE PROJECTS STATUS REPORT
Concrete pouring will begin on October 15th.
 
NEW BUSINESS
 
NOVEMBER 15TH ISSUE OF MANOR BANNER
All articles are due by November 9th and must be submitted to Liz Wuest.
The upcoming Banner will include highlights from Oktoberfest and a property tax appraisal article.
 
CHRISTMAS PARTY/SANTA CLAUS SOCIAL
Members discussed various ideas on how to improve attendance.
The upcoming party will include both a kids' and adults' gift exchange.
 
CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS
Joe Steinbach will purchase poinsettia plants for December distribution.
Lianna Steinbach will organize neighborhood children to distribute poinsettias to CMPOA members facing hardships and illnesses.
 
ANNUAL MEETING/SPRING SOCIAL
Members discussed ideas on how to improve attendance for this event as well, focusing on young adults and children.
Discussion included the possibility of hiring a magician for entertainment.
 
SIX MONTH REVIEW OF BOARD ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Members discussed the last six months' activity.
Attendance was very high at the last social event, Oktoberfest.
 
TREASURER'S REPORT
There are currently 123 members of CMPOA.
 
TRASH TREASURER'S REPORT
122 households are currently participating in Waste Management's waste removal services.
 
Treasurer's reports were reviewed and approved.
 
PROPOSAL TO MAKE AN ADDITION TO BY-LAWS
The Board discussed the possibility of creating an "honorary board member" position. This could prospectively be a position created for a child, to act as a goodwill ambassador to neighbors in need.
 
Next month's meeting location has not yet been determined.
The December 12th meeting will be held at the home of Joe Steinbach.
 
Meeting adjourned at 9:02 pm.
