The meeting was opened with prayer at 7:00 PM by Dwight Storm.  Healing was requested for Dean Ellefson who has both arms in casts due to an industrial accident.  In attendance were Jim Barnhill, Darrel Del Duca, Bob Engel, Larry Lekic and Dwight Storm.

The minutes of the January 10 Board meeting were approved as distributed by e-mail.
 
Jim Barnhill gave two Treasurer’s reports.  The beginning balance of the regular account was $4,862.92 with deposits of $488.60 and disbursements of $769.41 resulting in a book balance of $4,582.11.  There was one check outstanding of $179.00 resulting in a bank balance of $4,761.11.  It was noted that there were currently 123 members of the association.  The beginning balance of the trash account was $389.71 with deposits of $3,890.00 and a transfer of $151.70 to the regular account resulting in a book and bank balance of $4,128.01.   It was noted that there are 120 participants in the 2006-2007 trash removal program with Waste Management.  Checks have been received and deposited for 35 residents for the 2007-2008 trash removal program.  Checks have been received and not deposited from 32 residents and an additional 4 checks were received at the Board meeting resulting in a total of 71 checks received to date.  All participants have been advised their checks must be received by February 15, 2007.
 
Old Business:
  • Holiday events -

1.  Valentine Day Party - Larry Lekic announced that there were reservations for 92 attendees.  Larry planned to pick up the food on Thursday.  Lloyd Cowherd was planning on presenting a slide show on the history of Columbine Manor after the talent show.  Dwight Storm will introduce new neighbors in attendance and pray before the meal is served.
2.  Easter Egg Hunt - Darrel Del Duca reported that plans are moving forward for the event.
3.  Annual Meeting and Picnic - It was decided that all former residents would be invited to attend the picnic portion of the event.

  • Board of Director Candidates for 2007-2008 - The following names were submitted for proposed individuals to fill upcoming vacancies:
    1. Geddes Circle - Joe Wuest, Stewart Brown and Erik Reed. 
    2. Fremont Drive - Kelly Graves, Mavis Slifka and JoEllen McIntire. 
    3. Hinsdale Circle - Mike Haverland. 
    4. Platte Canyon Drive - Michael Derou.
  • A copy of the Policy and Procedure Manual was given to Jim Barnhill to distribute first to the officers to review their responsibilities and also give ideas for additional items to be included in the manual.  Then distributed to at large Board members to read for suggested additional items also.
  • Liability Insurance Proposal - Dwight Storm has completed a detailed application for the coverage.  The application has been sent to the Compass underwriters for review and acceptance.
  • Lawn of the Month Survey - Surveys were received from five Board members.  All questions were answered in the affirmative except for question one which related to each Board member individually drive through the neighborhood and select the best lawn.  Larry Lekic asked if his summary had been received.  Dwight responded that it had not and asked if Larry would like to vote on the one question that had three affirmative and three negative votes.  Larry voted negative.  Discussion followed.  It was decided to allow the three Board members in the north three sectors, the middle three sectors and the three south sectors to select the best lawn of their three sectors.  The three Board members would decide on the criteria to be used and the award would be given to a resident only once in any three year period.
  • Review of the February Manor Banner - Darrel Del Duca responded that some of the residents really were happy about the Trash Talk article.  It was determined after the meeting that there was an error in the article due to two typographical errors and it will be addressed in the April Manor banner.
New Business:
  • Future Snowstorms - Much discussion was held regarding the past snowstorm of approximately 68 inches and how to address the problem of future snowstorms.  Dwight will prepare a summary of the problems and determine at the next Board meeting how the Board wants to address them in the next issue of the Manor Banner.
  • Houses For Sale in Columbine Manor:
    One house remains for sale in Columbine Manor, 5019 W. Fremont Avenue.
  • Next Board Meeting:
    Darrel Del Duca volunteered to host the next two Board meetings.  The next Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 14.
