CMPOA Meeting minutes for the 5/1/2009 board meeting.

The

The May, 2009 meeting of Columbine Manor Property Owners Association (CMPOA) meeting was held at the home of Jim and Marilouise Barnhill, May 1, 2009.  President Darrel Del Duca called the meeting to order at approximately 7:08 PM. Hannah Shiba volunteered to write up the minutes in the absence of the Secretary, LuAnn Mcguire.

Attendees: Members present were Bob Engel, Joe Wuest, Joe Steinbach, Darrel Del Duca, Jim Barnhill, Michael Derou and Hannah Shiba.

Treasurer’s Report (Reported by Joe Wuest):

- Balance: Ending Checkbook Balance as of 04/30/09 was $6,952.74.

- Trash Removal Balance: We now have a total of 118 trash collection participants. The trash account was $1,279.31. There was one additional participant as result of new membership. Income total from trash collection: $130.80.

- Membership Dues: There was one new member. We now have 121 CMPOA members.

Old business:

- Last Month’s Minutes: Approval of the April board meeting minutes was passed as first order of business.

- Neighborhood Cleanup: It was a success. However, the board discussed ways to more efficiently fill the roll-away for next year’s cleanup, such as large items being dumped could be cut down in size before dumping into the roll-away and smaller items that can be discarded in standard trash container could leave more room for more bulky items.

- Easter Egg Hunt: It was a very successful event with over 35 kids participating.

New Business:

- Newsletter: More article contributions were requested for the next newsletter.

- Summer Picnic: Joe Wuest is leading the annual picnic event planning. We will have games for kids and for adults. Annual picnic is being scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2009, from 1PM-4PM for approximately 100 people. We will use Schneid’s BBQ. Members to bring side-dishes, salads or desserts. The cost of the food for the picnic is slightly over-budget, but this is offset by the cost of the spring cleanup event, which was slightly under-run.

- Metal Recycling: The board discussed having a metal recycling day as a way to help the neighborhood remove household metallic items that can be recycled. Board members can be contacted for small metal items. For larger items, additional volunteers can come to the property to pickup items. An article in the Manor Banner will provide additional details. If this proves successful, it could become an annual event.

- Yard of the Month: Joe Steinbach, Michael Derou and LuAnn McGuire will select Yard of the Month Winner for June. For July, Jim Barnhill, Hiroo Shiba and Darrel Del Duca will select a neighbor in the north sector.

- Easement: Darrel will contact the county to request that the grass be cut on the easement dividing Columbine Manor and Columbine Knolls. Liz will find out what can be planted in this area.

- Property Assessment: The board discussed a downward trend of the county assessor’s valuation of properties in the neighborhood. It was noted that the value of a few corner properties seems to have gone up while many other property valuations came down.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:30 PM. The next board meeting scheduled to be held on June 10, 2009 at the home of Hiroo and Hannah Shiba at 5049 Fremont Ave.

Respectfully Yours,

Hannah Shiba
